Gemini Station 1.0

A solo Marathon 2 map. Made with Phorte 2.0a14 and Hex 0.99 on a PowerPC. Untested as yet on a 680x0 machine. Graphics 1996 Chthonic Ionic Software with exception of terminal logo and background of the Gemini promotional shot which were borrowed from Bungie Software. Apologies to them for cannibalising them.

Contains 2 levels, first is a simple arm-up-and-go scene setter.

*** WARNING The main level in this map file has a very large number of polygons (c.750) and has been known to crash low memory macs or even simply refuse to load (M2 quits complaining it has not got enough memory) Playing in Thousands may look nice but requires M2 to have roughly 15-16 Mb assigned to it. This map was therefore designed for 256 colour play.

This is the first of a 6-8 level scenario with (although I say it myself) an excellent plot, and with at least 2 endings for those craving non-linear M2 maps. The ideas are all worked out, it is just a case of time in front of Phorte.

This scenario was designed to be of medium difficulty with the occasional hard bit when played on Normal. Total Carnage is a completely different proposition... surviving the opening on TC is kinda fun. The main design idea was to return to those gorgeouse DARK levels that M1 was full of. Really spooky.

Chthonic Ionic Software can be contacted care of Mike Trinder, 14 Victoria Road, Cambridge CB4 3DU, UK or at mpbt100@cam.ac.uk

Thanks to Steve Israelson for Phorte, FrigidMan for the guide to Phorte(and the most interesting grammar/spelling I've ever seen) and to Tim Weigand for Beta testing.

This serial release idea seems to be the best way of doing solo maps... Opinions?
